| Alamo Nursing Home opened its doors on Nov. 13,
1955 by founder, Fern Enos and her husband Ray. After caring
for many ill relatives, Fern saw a need for a nursing home in
the Alamo area because there were so few facilities of this
type in the area. The Enos family broke ground and built it
from the ground up. The nursing home began with 18 beds and
Fern and Ray lived on the premises in a small apartment. They
later built their own home behind the nursing home building
and Fern continues to live their today and is still involved
in the business.
In the beginning the Enos children helped run the family
business, each working in different departments of the facility.
Many of the Enos grandchildren worked here over the years.
Over the next several years the facility grew in size to 37
beds. In 1972 the skilled wing was opened and it grew to its
present size of 100 beds becoming Medicare certified. The
nursing home continues to be family owned and is now operated
by Fern’s granddaughter, Pat Perry as Administrator
and James Preston as Assistant Administrator and Assistant
Director of Nursing.
The facility offers nursing care within a family environment.
Many of the staff have worked for the company for 20 plus
years.
