| Alamo Nursing Home provides licensed
and experienced Physical, Occupational and Speech therapists
for inpatient treatment for a wide range of challenges per diagnosis.
Contracted and/or employed therapists are on staff and in the
facility 5-6 days a week for 8 hours a day to provide our residents
with physician ordered therapies with the highest level of services
needed to achieve their best outcomes.
Lori Bayer is our full time rehab director and oversees the
rehabilitation staff which includes a registered nurse and
several rehab technicians full time to support formal therapy
services and ongoing long term maintenance services.
It is the rehab departments mission and delight to achieve
goals in mobility and independence and provide support for
our residents to return home, return to alternate home setting
or, if needed to become part of the Alamo family and maintain
the highest level of independence.
Physical Therapy involves treatment in strengthening, mobility,
healing, pain treatment, and equipment use to recover from
broken bones, strokes, surgeries, heart and cancer treatment,
pain issues, dementia complications and a wide variety of
medical issues related to aging and/or disability with a wide
variety of modalities.
Occupational Therapy involves treatment in strengthening
and mobility involved in day to day activities of self-care
and independence. Frequently sessions include, exercise similar
to Physical Therapy but includes the applied mobility to increase
function. OT is seen working with residents on washing, dressing,
showering, toileting, grooming as well as problem solving,
safety, home care and meal preparation. Treatment includes
community visits and home site evaluation.
Speech Therapy provides treatment for swallowing and communication
problems due to stroke, generalized weakness, traumatic brain
injury, dementia and multitude of other diagnosis. The majority
of sessions are in facility but we also work closely with
area hospitals for inpatient diagnostic services.
Our rehab and therapy department coordinates closely with
Physicians, residents and their families to maintain the highest
level of communication for the most excellent outcome.
